Honest George's Used Cars I'm a relative newcomer to Lincoln, and a first-time customer of George Witt Service. One of their employees, Delta, was very helpful in advising me on what were critical repairs and what repairs could be put off for a later date. I was impressed with the honesty, communication and quality work at George Witt Service. I recommend this shop and wouldn't hesitate to return there for future service. Such a wonderful shop! The owners have done a fantastic job of incorporating a positive, honest philosophy into their car repair shop.

We've been family owned and respected in Lincoln for 22 years. We've elected to become the best we can be by focusing on only 2 manufacturers of vehicles. This allows us the resources to use Honda and Toyota factory test equipment, service information and factory quality parts. We are a team of auto repair professionals who are passionate about providing a great customer service experience.

These guys are tremendous. Got our two vehicles in for repair/service on consecutive days beginning the morning I called. Addition of two more great mechanics was the ticket! My 2015 Yaris still drives like a new car thanks to Becky and the entire Witt Service crew. I appreciate knowing I have many, many more trouble-free miles ahead.
We'll be presenting a class for a group of men from Las Vegas who'll be in town for a Husker game this fall. We believe that, as a responsible company, we have a great obligation to give back to our Lincoln, Nebraska community. So far this year, we have collected over 500 pounds of food for the Lincoln Food Bank.

Own a 2011 Honda Pilot with high miles. I have student at UNL and the check engine and VTS lights started flashing. My local mechanic not want to risk driving vehicle back to Omaha and recommended George Witt. I was very happy with the overall level of initial vehicle assessment and service provided to get the vehicle back on the road.

Took our 2009 Honda Odyssey in get checked over before we loaded the family up to trek halfway across the country. They were honest about repairs needed and what could wait. Speedy work. Great customer service. Van runs like new. Services: Tires, Auto engine tuning, Wiper blade installation, Engine repair, General repairs & maintenance

I've never had a repair shop lecture me for dropping off a car early. Work schedule doesn't really let me drop it off in the mornings, so I dropped it off before closing the night before only to be treated like they were put out to be checking my car in. Even went to far as to lecture me about how everything takes time and they schedule it all out. yet there was no other customers in site so I'm not sure what exactly it was harming.

To top it off, Becky was so matter offact about what was wrong with my vehicle it almost seemed as if they didn't even want to troubleshoot any of my issues, going so far as to even recommend a body shop for a water leak inside, and tooted their own horn about how they are the only shop in Lincoln that can balance a tire (yet I told them about the shake when they worked on the vehicle last time, but they didn't look at it then.) The experience was actually bad enough and off putting enough that I picked my car up the following morning before they could do anything with it and won't be going back.

This is very sad as I remember when I was younger this was the ONLY place I would take my Hondas, my parents and myself took our 90 Civic and 93 Accord there (which is a long time ago) but it's not the welcoming place it once was.

Repaired the seal on my 2003 Accord. I've been taking my car to George Witt Service for 18 years. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Always honest about repairs needed and cost. I trust them. Service: Water leak repair

Becky and her staff were able to keep the price way down on a major maintenance repair that would have cost us much more at some other shop. They were also able to get all of the repairs and maintenance finished in a very short, timely fashion. My wife and I would highly recommend them.

George Witt service is the most reliable and trustworthy place I could ever take my Honda. I was especially appreciative of a loaner car. The Honda dealership out south could certainly take a lesson from Becky's playbook.

Took my 2002 Honda Civic into George Witt Service on May 10th to have have rear brakes and front suspension worked on. They did a great job just like they always do, feels like a new civic. They are professional, thorough, speedy and affordable. They always try to do the right thing for their customers. I would definitely take my car back and you should give them a try to. They are awesome!

Becky and the good folks at George Witt Service have kept my Prius running in top form for coming on 200k miles. They are honest and they know Toyotas well. I highly recommend! Services: Oil change, Air & Cabin Filter, New wiper blade fitting, Brake service & repair, General repairs & maintenance

Loved the attention to detail and making sure they understood what was going on with my car. Very personable and easy to work with. The reason for four stars is that I felt that I was charged too much for tightening a belt. It was twice as much as I paid for the belt to be installed at another shop so I was a bit flabbergasted. Becky was friendly and professional and very accommodating with letting me drop my car off the night before. I was notified when my car was ready and was able to get it earlier than I'd expected. I've been taking my vehicles here for years and always have a good experience. I feel safe knowing they care about my cars safety and service history. Recently, I had the back panel dash lighting in my 2005 CR-V stop working due to an electrical shortage from an aftermarket stereo. Not only did Becky respond to my inquiry with prompt timing, I also received some of the BEST customer service. I was expecting for this to be an issue that took several days to fix, (as I was told as such by another Honda mechanic in Omaha) but it took about three hours tops!

Everything about this experience was pleasant, timely and professional. My husband and I have a Honda, an Acura and two Toyotas, all of which we will only be bringing here from now on. THANKS BECKY, YOU ROCK!

My daughter took her 2005 Lexus SUV here for a failed power steering pump. Their quote was almost $2000 until I talked them into installing an aftermarket pump which cut the cost in half. Since my daughter was a UNL student I was a little upset that they didn't offer that to begin with. A couple of days after the pump was replaced the liner under the motor fell down while she was driving because they hadn't replaced all the fasteners when they did the PS pump replacement.

She went back and they re-attached it. After she came home to Colorado the liner again came loose and we discovered that instead of using the correct fasteners they had just jammed a couple of screws into it to hold it in place. It had to be replaced so I bought a new one. Before we could have it put on the passenger side fender liner fell off - same problem, incorrect and missing fasteners.

I bought a new one and had both liners replaced with correct fasteners by our local Lexus service. Trying to take advantage of my daughter by using an expensive factory replacement part instead of a perfectly good aftermarket part, especially on a car almost fifteen years old, is unjustifiable but to cut corners with such shoddy work is absolutely inexcusable. Stay away!

First time needing service on the Acura we purchased 6 months ago. They were very knowledgeable and truthful. I'm a cut the BS kind of guy and I don't want to waist their time either. They treated us very well. The final price came out a bit over estimate but it was very well broke down and easily understandable as to why. Had it done when we needed it to be and willing to meet us on our schedule for pickup. Will definitely use them again, though hopefully not too soon. Highly recommend! Thanks again

I have taken my car here for nearly 20 years and have never been disappointed. I appreciate their focus on preventative maintenance as well customer education and empowerment. They have exceptional customer service and I plan on driving my Honda to over 200,000 miles just like my last one!

Becky is the "bomb" and George Witt Service is the ultimate in automotive service. We were driving through Lincoln and heard a grating noise coming from the rear of our Venza. I turned to trusty Yelp and found this treasure. We called and Becky told us to come right over. Becky was friendly and made us feel at home and within 15 minutes the problem was identified and repaired.

Thirty minutes later we were back on the road. The cost was more than reasonable and my husband and I would highly recommend George Witt to everyone driving a Honda or Toyota, the only cars they service. We drive back and forth to Denver every summer and usually stay over in Lincoln. It's nice to know there is an automotive service we can rely on should the need arise again. Thank you, Becky!

We have been taking our car to Witt for at least 18 years. They have taken care of multiple cars for us. We trust that the advice and recommendations that they provide are accurate and appropriate. They are excellent about maintaining a car so that it lasts for a long, long time. One of our cars is a 1999 Honda Accord and it has ONLY been maintained by Witt.

It has over 200,000 miles on it and we expect it to last for many more years. The staff have been generous, patient and kind to us. I would highly recommend them for your auto repair and maintenance needs.

You know, I didn't end up going to George Witt's as I went and got my car fixed the day I sent them a message so I didn't give them enough time to respond. However, their customer service was awesome. They answered all my questions and were extremely friendly. If you are considering somewhere I'd recommend giving them a try. I will be trying them out the next time I have an issue. Brian

I will qualify the rating, it hold for Honda cars, that is what they work only, with the exception being, they might work on a few Toyota. George, the owner is a real nice person, and always treats the customer right. just that he mostly, only works on Honda, maybe a few Toyota. he doe use the Factory original parts. you know you are usually getting good parts that way. they do provide a ride home and will pick you up when you Honda is done. the service is good and it is very timely

I called the shop to schedule an appointment to look over a car (Honda) that I was thinking about purchasing for my daughter who goes to school in NE. I didn't realize the time because I live in another state but called after hours. Becky answered the phone like it was 8am and the shop just opened. Since they would be closed on the weekend and she could not have one of her mechanics look at it, Becky proceeded to advise me what to look for, what questions are important to ask and what to steer clear from.

She even gave me some helpful tips on my car (Toyota). Half an hour later I asked her what time her shop closed and that's when she said they've been closed for an hour. I don't know this person, never met her but she treated me like I was family. I don't know about you but if she treats strangers like that, that's the shop I want my car to go to! Thank you Becky! I will make sure my daughter gets her car serviced from you when she is in town (on a weekday)!

This place has the best prices in town, and they seem to be honest and quick. I did not receive a single smile while I was in there. I was giving smiles to ever person I spoke with, yet, no person reciprocated the courtesy back. I was treated like they really didn't want me there in the first place. I don't know if I'll go back or not. I guess if I don't find another business with comparable prices, I'll have to go back to these sad people.

I have had my Lexus serviced by George Witt Service for the past six years. I have been very impressed with their service. Their employees are friendly and knowledgeable, and they never try to sell me more than what I need to keep my car running safely. They are proactive in making sure potential problems are corrected, such as testing my battery and letting me know when it is time to replace it so I don't get stranded.

When I take my car in for a maintenance check, they ask questions and listen to what is important to me, so they can recommend the best service and products, such as tires, for my needs. I highly recommend George Witt Service for car service and maintenance, and I would never go anywhere else!

I've been a George Witt customer for over 12 years. There isn't another mechanic shop out there who compares to the knowledge, professionalism, customer service, community involvement, customer education, environmental concern and trusted service consistently offered at Witt's. I won't buy a make or model that can't be worked on at George Witt's.

Great service. They never try to talk you into a repair you don't need or exaggerate the necessity (or cost) of a particular job. They also want the customer to understand what they are doing and why, so they will talk through everything with you really clearly, which I appreciate.

Great sadness compels that I write this review. I drive a late model Honda Accord and when I moved back to Lincoln I was told by numerous people that the ONLY place to take a Honda for any work was George Witt's, and so I did. My first experience was excellent. The problem was fixed and I received a thorough evaluation and write up on the issues with my vehicle.

Since then I have had terrible experiences. My first bad experience was when I was having issues with the vehicle overheating and I suspected a problem with my radiator. As the problem wasn't dire (yet) I called GW's and made an appointment for the next week (earliest appointment). The day I was to drop off my car I received a call from George who stated that they would be unable to honor my appointment (from nearly 10 days before) and if I wished to wait it would be another 2 weeks. George referred me to Watson's Auto, just around the corner, who repaired my radiator and delivered as they promised they would.

Being the loyal customer that I am I returned to GW's when my muffler fell off in a car wash earlier this summer. I made an appointment and brought my car in only to be told that I had to pay a $20 fee to have them give me a quote on fixing the problem. I was informed that the inspection fee would be applied to any work I had done, so I agreed.

I obviously needed a new muffler, but it needed additional exhaust work and I received a quote to have the needed repairs. I paid for the work over the phone (10% more than the quote and they forgot to credit my "quote charge") and picked up my car after hours. My first thought was that the car was still really loud (as it had been without a muffler) but I thought it was just me.

I returned to them a couple weeks later to have them take a second look at the vehicle and they determined that another piece of the exhaust needed to be replaced. I was upset as I had just been in to have the exhaust worked on and I expressed that frustration because had I known the full extent of the work to be done I likely would not have done it. Sensing my frustration they offered to put the piece in and not charge me any labor.

A week later. I got a call and was told "I don't feel comfortable doing that for you and if you want it installed you have to pay for the labor too". If you have an older car or have ever driven a car until it's death, you have a number in your head. That number represents the break point when you throw in the towel and go get your new car, for me the number was $1,000.

When I had the first round of exhaust work done the total quote was for $410, the bill was for $450(10% over the quote that I had to pay upfront for). With this additional work that they negligently missed the total would have been closer to $730 or getting really close to my break point. Bottom line, George Witt's Service: (1) Canceled my appointment the day of the appointment after a 10 day wait (2) Charged 10% over a quote that I had to pay for (which only included 60% of the needed work) (3) Promised to "Take care of me" only to withdraw the offer 5 days later I would say have them diagnose for $20, but they don't even seem to get that right anymore! It's a sad day when an institution a lifetime in the making is being destroyed by a lack of integrity and inattention to detail.

I have used George Witt for over 10 years. I have actually found them to be MORE affordable than the alternative (Dealerships) for Hondas and Toyotas. In addition to having very reasonable rates, the service is exceptional. One of the things I truly appreciate about this shop is they don't do work that isn't necessary. In fact, I had an issue with my Odyssey and made an assumption that we should replace the timing belt, but they insisted on fixing the actual problem first before doing the timing belt to make sure it was fixed correctly. Honesty, integrity, great service, and reasonable rates make George Witt an outstanding option for repairing your Honda or Toyota!

Joel summed it up pretty well. My family has been taking all of our honda's to George for several years now. His motto is "do maintenance now to avoid costly repairs in the future". It feels like you are always doing little repairs on your car (if it's an older one) but your car will be very reliable. George will explain to you what the problem is and what they do to fix it. Most importantly, he is very honest and trustworthy. He also really knows his cars!

George has been responsible for taking care of 4 of my vehicles over the years. His shop is always clean, and the staff always friendly. When you go in for service, they are always happy to help you out with a ride, or you can hang out in the customer lounge and enjoy a soda and some snacks. They are very good at getting you in for an appointment, and they publish a free newsletter with coupons.

They are very good mechanics, and this is both a positive and a negative. I once asked George why they had noted my radiator was a 'little low.' He said that they know my specific engine, in that specific year, just uses a little fluid and it isn't anything to worry about. On the downside, they are always able to find something that you need to fix, but this is how it works with modern cars.

They keep limited hours on Fridays and can be pretty expensive. Pros: Experts in Hondas/Acuras and now Toyotas. Quick! Friendly. Very helpful and happy to explain, show, teach. Cons: Expensive.
